An increasing number of prominent Arizonans are calling for Sheriff Joe
Arpaio of Maricopa County to be investigated for civil rights
violations and racial profiling.

Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon, the Arizona Legislature Latino Caucus,
several Hispanic civic groups, Mesa Police Chief George Gascon and
Phoenix attorney Michael Manning are among those who have called for
the Department of Justice and the FBI to investigate Arpaio's crimes
against the Latino community.

Arpaio has come under extreme criticism for his Gestapo tactics of sending
large numbers of deputies and posse members into areas of Phoenix where
day laborers gather and into the predominantly Latino towns and
communities such as Guadalupe. His deputies and racist posse members
are detaining brown people to check on their immigration status. The
